Free Crochet Baby Diaper Pattern

crochet pattern

I love easy crochet projects that make useful gifts. This crochet pattern can be easy to customize for boys or girls. This pattern is for newborns to about 6 months, depending on the size of the baby. You can increase your hook size or add more stiches in order to make the diaper bigger for older or larger babies.

Hook size: H

Yarn: I used the big value roles of Red Heart. However, you can use any type of yarn that you wish.

Chain 44

Round 12-21: DC across, chain 2 and turn. (10 stitches)

FINISHING: To finish, you will SC all the way around the diaper in the color of your choice. At the corners of the flaps (where the button will go through) you can SC in the top corner, chain 5, and then SC in the next corner to make it easier to fit large buttons through. If you are using a very small button, you can just do 3 DC in the middle stitch of the flaps for the button to fit through.

BUTTON: Place your button on the top of the large flap and using your choice of color of yarn tie it in place. I tie mine loosely so that there is plenty of room for both of the smaller flaps to fit through it.
